Propaganda Appeal to Unionists

Unlike when speaking to Nationalists, when speaking to the unionists, mainly located in Northern Ireland, propaganda was able to fully employ one’s sense of duty to the empire. Unionists in general were more supportive of the war and believed they  were supposed to serve the Queen and the Empire.  Thus, these appeals made sure to emphasize the overall theme of empire in addition to making use of speeches from British politicians.

This poster demonstrates the United Kingdom of Britain, Wales, Scotland and Ireland. It shows the UK united as one and suggests it is the duty of all the parts to fight for the overall whole.

This poster features a quotation from the British Prime Minister in its appeal to Irishmen to assist in the war effort. This type of poster would not be seen in areas with a more nationalistic  sentiment and would have been most likely displayed in Northern Ireland.
