Propaganda Appeal to Farmers

Return To Irish Propaganda Homepage

Propaganda used in Ireland made sure to target one of the largest occupations  of the population: the farmer. These appeals would make sure to let farmers know of the drastic change their lives would take if Germany was victorious.

This poster claims Irish farmers would have their land stripped from them and that not only would they be forced into the military, but their sons as well. Furthermore, it shames them when mentioning the other farmers around the world who answered the call.

There were also appeals to the general beauty of the Irish land, an important part of the collective memory of the Irish. This poster highlights the natural beauty of Ireland as well as the duty of the farmer to protect it.
