Croagh Patrick is a mountain named for St. Patrick. According to legend, St. Patrick climbed to the summit and fasted for forty days in the 5th century. It is now a site of pilgrimage.

The Rock of Cashel is thought to be the traditional site of the seat of the High Kings of Munster. The High Kings were the Gaelic rulers of Ireland prior to the Norman invasion in the 12th century.
